Photograpy & Nature

💫

I used to enjoy walking with a camera. I also loved taking photos. Over time, the proportions began to shift. I still liked walking with a camera, but I wanted more and more to take pictures. Today I probably wouldn't go anywhere without a camera. Though I know that could change someday.

Sometimes I hear that someone prefers to leave the camera at home. That they no longer want to take photos because the camera starts to get in the way of observing. I understand that. And yet it scares me a little.

I used to look rather far away. Today I look closer. Far away—because what is unfamiliar carries a breeze of freshness. It is interesting, new, exotic. But if something is unfamiliar, it's hard to see anything truly exceptional in it. That exceptional quality appears only when you know a place and return to it many times.

Nature and photography draw me in more and more. And I hope it stays that way.
