The calm gaze of a wolf

This is one of my favorite photographs. It captures the culmination of an encounter with a pack of nine wolves.

It was the moment when the wolves emerged from behind a rise in the road and came as close as about 20 meters from us. They gave us a brief moment to take the photograph before leaving the road and disappearing into the forest, continuing on their way.
